Happy Veterans Day

Happy Veterans Day to all of you military service people.  Thank you for serving and fighting for our country.  My Dad was in the Navy and I believe served in what he called the Korean Conflict.  Not sure if that is what they all refer to as the Korean War or not.  I have my Dad's Navy wool jacket that I always say I am going to wear in winter and just never have yet.  It is still in very good shape.  I guess I should get it cleaned and wear it.  I bet it is very warm!

Also a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to two of my nieces Heather and Ashley.  Hope you both have a very great day.  I know that I don't have pictures on the laptop of you guys so you will just have to deal with it!!!  If you even see this post. But do something fun or make your husbands take you out or cook for you.  Yeah that would be cool.  Let me know how that turns out.  No, on second thought don't.  I don't need to know!

To everyone else have a great Thursday.  And if you work for a bank or government agency enjoy your day off!  I will be putting in my time at the office.  Not that we usually have to work very hard this time of year though.  I will be there however!  As always for the last 12 1/2 years!!!  Have a great day everyone!

Iowa Blizzard 2009

Here are a few pictures I took at my work the morning after our lovely Iowa blizzard last week. The snow was 27 inches in front of our office door and the snow was unbelievable all around the building. It was so tall it almost completely covered up the gas pumps. Maybe that will be the last big snow storm of the year. Think we could get that lucky?????? We can hope but I think we are doomed since this is Iowa and that was our first of the year! Ty Football 2010

So finally remembered to take the camera to Ty's game Friday night and snap some pictures. We won 45-0 and Ty had 3 TD's but one was called back. I don't know what his class will think when/if they ever lose. They haven't lost a game since grade school. Wouldn't that be awesome if they never did lose one? I think our varsity team will be a force to be reckoned with when they are juniors and seniors. Not saying that the varsity team currently isn't. They haven't lost this year either. Love football season but sad to see summer almost over! Go Wapsie Valley Warriors!

Congratulations Kyle & Taylor

 Friday night after the game Kyle proposed to Taylor and she said yes!  We have a new engagement in the family and couldn't be happier for them both.  I even got to be in on the secret and play an important role for Kyle.  Since he was coaching he of course couldn't just leave the game, so he enlisted Mom to go to his car unnoticed right before the end and grab the ring case out of the glove box and the long stem rose out of a cooler in the trunk.  I was pretty sneaky apparently because Taylor didn't even notice that I left.  Of course I stayed away from her somewhat on purpose so I wouldn't open my mouth and let something slip to give it away.  Kyle looked over to me right after the game ended and I shook my head "yes" to let him know I didn't let him down.  He grabbed Tyler and Taylor's brother off the field and said "follow me".  Then he just dropped to a knee and proposed.  I didn't have time to recruit a friend to take some pictures
