Concussion




Yep, Ty took a hard helmet to helmet hit in his game last night and has a concussion and a couple of stingers. He is very sore and we are going to the doctor this afternoon. Apparently everything (severity and such) has to be documented until he is over it or the school will not let him go back to playing until our doctor releases him. Went and picked him up at school this morning and dropped him off at home. I came back to work so told him to call me every half hour so I know he is okay. He was dizzy and sick to his stomach. Yeah I know, probably should have not come back to work but someone has to man the office! He'll be okay. I'll be home with him in a couple hours. Will post an update after our appointment. Oh, the other kid on the bench hurt is his buddy Zach. Apparently he might have some broken ribs and his Mom had to go get him this morning from school too. Tough game for our boys but they did win 43-8 I think it was.

***UPDATE-Sorry didn't do this sooner but ran out of time before Kyle's game last night. Tyler has a phase 1 (3 being the worst so that is good) concussion. As long as the headaches get better and go away and he doesn't develop new symptoms he is released to practice already on Monday. So very good news. And by last night at the end of Kyle's game he was moving around pretty well and his eyes no longer looked "glassy & out there". And he is with his friend Ethan today and going to the UNI game so I think he will be just fine. :-)

Here are a few pictures I took at my work the morning after our lovely Iowa blizzard last week. The snow was 27 inches in front of our office door and the snow was unbelievable all around the building. It was so tall it almost completely covered up the gas pumps. Maybe that will be the last big snow storm of the year. Think we could get that lucky?????? We can hope but I think we are doomed since this is Iowa and that was our first of the year! Ty Football 2010

So finally remembered to take the camera to Ty's game Friday night and snap some pictures. We won 45-0 and Ty had 3 TD's but one was called back. I don't know what his class will think when/if they ever lose. They haven't lost a game since grade school. Wouldn't that be awesome if they never did lose one? I think our varsity team will be a force to be reckoned with when they are juniors and seniors. Not saying that the varsity team currently isn't. They haven't lost this year either. Love football season but sad to see summer almost over! Go Wapsie Valley Warriors!

Congratulations Kyle & Taylor

 Friday night after the game Kyle proposed to Taylor and she said yes!  We have a new engagement in the family and couldn't be happier for them both.  I even got to be in on the secret and play an important role for Kyle.  Since he was coaching he of course couldn't just leave the game, so he enlisted Mom to go to his car unnoticed right before the end and grab the ring case out of the glove box and the long stem rose out of a cooler in the trunk.  I was pretty sneaky apparently because Taylor didn't even notice that I left.  Of course I stayed away from her somewhat on purpose so I wouldn't open my mouth and let something slip to give it away.  Kyle looked over to me right after the game ended and I shook my head "yes" to let him know I didn't let him down.  He grabbed Tyler and Taylor's brother off the field and said "follow me".  Then he just dropped to a knee and proposed.  I didn't have time to recruit a friend to take some pictures
